In Memory of Bill Moss

Central Ohio is mourning the loss of on of our revolutionairies as past school board president and member Bill Moss died earlier this week. I had the opoortunity to interview him several times and grow up under his legacy at Columbus Public School. Described as fiery and passionate, Bill Moss had one objective: looking out for the interest of the youth. Even after his tenure on the board I remember seeing him at school-sponsored events, just to show that he meant everything he said.

It was clear to see his impact, as when he was ousted from the school board, several "incidents" occured. Less than a month after the elections to pass a levy, a huge deficit was found within the school system, which more than trumped the levy. This is also evident within the district, which has finally been called on creating a "culture of secrecy" when it comes to the media, parents and taxpayers.
But this is not about Columbus Public Schools. This is about a man whose creativity, strength and prowlness made Columbus stand at attention. My condolences go out to Moss' family, including his incredible and lovely wife, Ruth, his children and anyone he has touched. Below are some articles about Moss, so that he is not typecast just as a tyrannical, hothead. But as a musician, journalist, activist, lover and a fighter. Rest in peace.

Nice tribute to Brother Bill, by the way. I will truly miss him and
his fire. Now who's gonna get in the a**es of the school board and
CPS to fight for our kids?

Mr. Moss provided strong leadership and was a role model for the people of Columbus. He demonstrated to us the importance of speaking out on issues that were dear to us, and that repeating ourselves to make sure folks heard us was okay. Thanks Mr. Moss and God bless your soul and your family.

Thank you Mr. Moss 4 always being an advocate of the people, even if it made people look at you negative light. You understood the seriousness of the education of the children, & not everybody appreciated that, but i do.
