I Want More than Teeth For XMas

Now, I'm not a big holiday person. I don't like XMas music (I'll tell you more about that later), XMas lights..I like some decorations. But the whole thing is kind of a gimmick. However, I do like my family (most of them), eating and presents. Call me superficial, but defending a Christmas tree is shallow to me. Be for real and admit it: if it wasn't for getting presents and eating, you wouldn't like XMas either. And that's cool, because individual traditions are sometimes more important than religiousity anyway. But this isn't a theological debate, it's a XMas list. Here's the stuff I want for XMas...if I don't get them I'll probably buy them for myself. But anybody who knows me knows I broke so as my Daddy says, hook a sista up!

1. Try!, John Mayer Trio
I figure if I mention his name enough I'll get John Mayer under the tree instead of his CD. But, I'm surprised that nobody I know had enough insight to get this for me before now. I have two Room For Squares, one Heavier Things...I could use Any Given Thursday too.

2. Comin From Where I'm From Live & More, Anthony Hamilton
While you're on Amazon.com, you can add this to your shopping cart for me. Now, I seen Anthony Hamilton in concert last year, and the show was alright...but I'm interviewing him today and was listening to his music and really want this DVD.

3. MAC Lipgloss
If you ever seen me out and about, you know my lips are the glossy equivalent to Mike Jones' grill. So my lip gloss budget is bananas. If you ever need to get me a gift and don't know what to get...$20 for some MAC lip gloss is always a good look.

4. Moscato Wine
I am an up and coming wine snob, and my favorite for now is Moscato. Now, my boy Naton swears he introduced me to this wine subliminally, but I think I picked it all on my own. If not some wine, then a book about wine. I'm growing up, time to leave the shots alone!

5. Pens
Please, no fancy shit! I lose pens at lightning speed! You would think that because I'm a writer I would cherish pens more, but I never have them. If somebody bought me a Sam's Club bundle of pens, that would be the best!

6. A new journal
I always start of the year with a new journal. The last one I bought was in June or so...it's not quite full, but who wants to start a new year with '05 memories? I like spirals, leather, something beautiful looking and shit. Plus on my agenda next year: selling my songs (been writing some bomb songs lately!).

7. A date for New Year's
I thought I was going to be good for all the holiday parties I'm invited to. But I done phucked around and...well, ya'll know what happend. So once again: John Mayer, John Mayer, John Mayer!

I made it real easy for everybody, right? Oh, and I forgot to add world peace, success and progress for me and my crew...ummm, anything else?

I would so appreciate your tin of cookies...I remember you saying that's what you were giving everybody. I forgot to add other edibles that go along with my wine.

I just discovered Reisling a month or so ago...never tried Blue Nun but I'll check it out!

I probably won't get any of these things, so I'm not holding my breath...at least now I know where to find everything I want.

Oh my goodness were we seperated at birth. From the Moscato Wine, to John Mayer, and Mac Lip Gloss (although I had to switch over to the victoria secret version after I lost my second tube of MAC) and even being a snob (he he he). I love your blog. You're what I'm trying to be (a writer) except u actually do it. And a damn good job of it. Keep it up, you'll be soaring sooner than you know it.

P.S. The Bay Area is a cool place to be a journalist. I know the city of Oakland could sure use a culture vulture like yourself.
